Weidling a 2015-2019 Self Graduate Fellow pursuing a Ph.D. in biomedical sciences. He received a B.S. (2013) in biology from the University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas. As an undergraduate, he earned honors in biology for his studies on a microtubule associated protein in the brain while holding leadership roles in multiple campus organizations. His current research focuses on the cellular response to mitochondrial dysfunction with the goal of discovering therapeutic targets for treating age related declines in cognition. He hopes to continue studying the contribution of metabolic defects to human ageing throughout his career as a research professor in academia.
