Stephen Shannon

Stephen Shannon is a 2015-2019 Self Graduate Fellow pursuing a Ph.D. in the anatomy and cell biology department at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He received a B.S. in Biology in 2013 from Wheaton College in Wheaton, IL. During his undergraduate work, Shannon interned at the University of Health Sciences in Bethesda, MD where he studied the effects of blast induced traumatic brain injury on fear memory and learning in mice. In his graduate work, Shannon has transitioned into developmental biology where he studies factors that influence neural crest cells in the development of the enteric nervous system in the gastrointestinal tract.
