TIMELINE

It is important that students meet various deadlines in order to be considered for a Self Memorial Scholarship. The following serves as a suggested timeline for prospective Self Memorial Scholars.

September-November

Check with chosen academic department to confirm application deadlines and required information. Identified good sources for letters of recommendation. Update resume. Submit graduate school application when complete.

December-January

Confirm with chosen department that the graduate school application is complete and that all supporting materials have been received. Wait for admissions decision.

February

Gain admission to a KU graduate program.

Review website for Scholar information. Prepare materials including an updated resume, personal statement that is specific to the Self Memorial Scholarship, and one letter of recommendation. For a full list of all required submission materials and writing prompts, please see the "Self Memorial Scholarship Information" document in the resource block.

Application opens on February 10.

March

Once accepted into a KU graduate program, submit the Self Memorial Scholarship application. Ensure delivery of all materials by the application deadline: Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at noon.

End of March: Committee reviews scholarship applications. 

April

Committee makes final scholarship offer decisions. Students will be notified by email of the committee's decision. If awarded, students must formally accept or decline the scholarship before the April deadline.

April 30: Latest deadline for student acceptance of offer.
