Scholarship Applications

The Madison and Lila Self Memorial Scholarship is open and accepting student applications. The scholarship application link will remain open until Monday, March 30, 2020 at noon. 

Please review all eligibility information and application requirements before submitting your application. 





It is important that students meet various deadlines in order to be nominated for a Self Memorial Scholarship. The following serves as a suggested timeline for prospective Self Memorial Scholars

September- November

Check with chosen academic department to confirm application deadlines and required information. Identified good sources for letters of recommendation. Update resume. Submit graduate school application when complete.

December- January

Confirm with chosen department that the graduate school application is complete and that all supporting materials have been received. Wait for admissions decision.


Gain admission to a KU graduate program.

Review website for Scholar information. Prepare materials including an updated resume, personal statement that is specific to the Self Memorial Scholarship, and one letter of recommendation. Once accepted into a KU graduate program, submit the Self Memorial Scholarship application. Ensure delivery of all materials by the application deadline: Monday, March 30, 2020 at noon CST

End of March: Committee reviews scholarship applications. 


Early April: Committee makes final scholarship offer decisions. Students will be notified by email of the committee's decision. If awarded, students must formally accept or decline the scholarship before the April deadline.

April 15: Latest deadline for student acceptance of offers.
