Self Graduate Fellowship Recruitment Enhancement Support Form

The Madison and Lila Self Graduate Fellowship offers the 21 SGF eligible departments Recruitment Enhancement Support for the 2018-2019 academic year. The goal of these funds is to support departments that are enhancing their recruitment strategies for applications to their degree programs with potential for nomination of applicants to the Self Graduate Fellowship. Proposals will be reviewed based on the quality of the plan submitted and the likelihood of highest quality of applicants. 

Support of up to $5,000 is available to SGF eligible departments for 2018-2019. Information to be included in an "SGF Recruitment Enhancement Support Request" is listed below.

The Self Graduate Fellowship will work closely with faculty/staff and departments that receive recruitment support regarding the inclusion of potential students in the Prospect system and follow-up with prospective applicants.

Departments that receive support for 2018-2019 recruitment activities will be asked to report on the activities, the results, and the impact on the department recruiting capabilities at the end of the academic year.

Recruitment Enhancement Support (RES) awards are requested at the beginning of the year, and if approved, funding is awarded at that time of the application. Any unused funds from the original RES award will be considered rollover and can be used in the next academic year. The rollover funds will factor into the maximum $5,000.00 request limit.
Ideas: Exhibits/activities at scientific conferences, faculty travel to recruit and give lectures at feeder schools, advertising in discipline-related websites and other media, department recruitment weekend activities on KU campus, REU program support, educational awards/signing bonuses
