Aleesa Chua

Aleesa Chua is a 2022-2026 Self Graduate Fellow pursuing a Ph.D. in Bioanalytical Chemistry at the University of Kansas. After earning a baccalaureate degree in Chemistry from Colorado College in 2022, she joined Dr. Heather Desaire's group in the Department of Chemistry. Their work utilizes mass spectrometry and machine learning to develop noninvasive biomarker research techniques for protected populations. Chua's current research focuses on minimizing off-target, systematic variation in the analysis of extracted lipids from latent fingerprints. Beyond her scientific endeavors, she is deeply committed to community outreach, striving to positively impact underserved and marginalized communities.
