Biography —
Alexis Redwine is a 2024-2028 Self Graduate Fellow pursuing a Ph.D. in organic chemistry at the University of Kansas. She is originally from Ponca City, OK and obtained a B.S. in chemistry with a minor in biology and physics from Southern Nazarene University in 2023. During her undergraduate career, she developed a passion for teaching science. As a member of the Teator Research Group in the Department of Chemistry, her research focuses on developing a new method for the functionalization of synthetic polymers. Specifically, her current project includes the design and synthesis of a new acrylamide monomer with unique structural properties that, upon polymerization, allows for post polymerization modifications. After her time at KU, she plans to stay within higher education to participate in teaching the next generation of scientists and instill in them a passion to push the boundaries of scientific research.
