Biography —
Anthony J. Napolitano is a 2026–2030 Self Graduate Fellow pursuing a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry at the University of Kansas. He earned his B.E. in Chemical Engineering, with minors in Bioengineering and Chemistry, from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York, New York (2025).
Napolitano’s research centers on the development of novel ocular drug delivery systems and therapeutics. His current work focuses on a peptide-based delivery system designed to improve the delivery of small-molecule therapeutics to the anterior chamber of the eye. By enhancing ocular delivery, this approach aims to improve strategies for reducing elevated intraocular pressure, a major risk factor for glaucoma and permanent vision loss. His broader research interests include expanding this delivery system beyond the anterior segment, with the goal of enabling topical delivery of both small and large molecules to the posterior segment of the eye.
Motivated by the translational potential of pharmaceutical research, Napolitano is interested in developing therapies that address clear clinical needs and ultimately improve patient outcomes. Through his graduate training, he hopes to contribute to the advancement of innovative ocular therapeutics while building the scientific, leadership, and communication skills necessary to help move promising technologies from the laboratory toward real-world impact.
