Brody Gatza

Brody Gatza is a 2023-2024 Self Memorial Scholar from Olathe, KS, pursuing a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering. He earned a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Kansas in 2023 while graduating with departmental honors and being selected as the outstanding senior from the department. He also graduated from the University Honors Program and earned a leadership engagement certificate. He has served as the president of KUbeSat for two years and is the project manager for the organization’s next CubeSat. Brody conducted research under Dr. Cheng Huang while working on his B.S. and plans to continue working with him to improve the efficiency of rocket combustion simulations during his graduate studies. After completing his Ph.D. Brody plans to use his skills to help advance the space industry and allow humans to venture further into space than ever before.
