Brooklyn Dickey

Brooklyn Dickey is a 2026-2027 Self Memorial Scholar pursuing an M.A. in Speech Language Pathology at the University of Kansas. She holds a B.A. in Speech Language Hearing graduating in the top 10% of her class. Brooklyn received the Outstanding Undergraduate Student Clinician Award for her work within her clinical practicum experience under Dr. Elizabeth Leatherman. During this experience, she worked with young children and adults with complex communication needs, who use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices. Additionally, she earned a Certificate in Service Learning through her volunteer work as an undergraduate. Brooklyn was the Peer Mentor Chair of the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA) and the shopping coordinator for Her Campus. She also participated in KU’s Best Buddies Chapter. Brooklyn’s research experience includes working under Dr. Margarethe McDonald in the Speech in Little Bilinguals Lab. During her graduate program, Brooklyn will also be participating in the SKIES grant where she will work with individuals who use AAC devices and learn how to better support them in natural settings. In the future, Brooklyn hopes to work with individuals who use AAC devices in a school setting.
