Biography

Carolina Medina Castellanos is a 2023-2024 Self Memorial Scholar pursuing an M.S. in Computer Engineering with an emphasis in Computer Systems Design. She holds a B.S. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering and a minor in French (2023) from the University of Kansas. In her undergraduate career, she was awarded the International Excellence Award (2019-2023), the Lakshmi Viswanadha Engineering Scholarship (2022), and the Garmin Excellence Scholarship (2020), and graduated from the Honors Program. She also worked on hardware security research with Professor Tamzidul Hoque from the EECS department and was an active member of the IHAWKE, SHPE, and IEEE organizations within the School of Engineering. After she graduated, she was an intern at Apple Inc, where she was part of the large display team as an engineering program manager, and led the development process for silicon components and EE boards used in next-generation Apple products. In the upcoming years, she aspires to keep expanding her knowledge in EECS and to use her creativity to innovate in her field.
