Biography

Chad Lakin II is a 2025 - 2029 Self Graduate Fellow pursuing a Ph.D. in inorganic chemistry at the University of Kansas. Originally from Springfield, Missouri, he graduated from Missouri State University in Spring 2021 with his B.S. in chemistry. He then went on to work in industry at Brewer Science, where he helped to develop electrochemical sensors for detecting metals and other ions in water, such as lead, chromium, copper, and nitrate ions. His current research focuses on recycling used nuclear fuel for purposes of minimizing nuclear waste. His goal is to use his experiences at Brewer Science and in the Ph.D. program to work on developing new green chemistry technologies.
