Biography

Jennifer Greer is a 2025-2029 Self Graduate Fellow pursuing a Ph.D. in chemistry at the University of Kansas. In May 2025, she earned her B.S. in chemistry with a concentration in American Chemical Society from Mississippi State University (MSU), indicating a broad foundation in chemistry, along with a minor in Medical Humanities. Diagnosed with type 2 diabetes at age 9, she was later diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and celiac disease, fueling her passion to research autoimmune diseases, especially gastrointestinal ones. At MSU, she researched manganese complexes for environmentally friendly alkene cleavage. Summers at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (UMMC) and the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) involved studying non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and polymer materials for use in aircraft. Her Ph.D. focus is on disease-active sites, uncovering causes and potential treatments. Following her Ph.D., she aims to work in pharmaceuticals on autoimmune treatments and teach and mentor future scientists.
