Biography

Kaitlyn Hinz is a 2024-2028 Self Graduate Fellow pursuing a Ph.D in Pharmacology at The University of Kansas Medical Center in the department of Pharmacology, Toxicology, and Therapeutics. She graduated from Drury University in December 2020 with a B.S. in Behavioral Neuroscience and a B.A. in Chemistry with a minor in Psychology. Her graduate research is exploring the interactions between the liver and brain during Metabolic Dysfunction and Alcohol-Associated Liver Disease. Specifically looking at the role of prolonged inflammation and addiction pathways to help understand mechanisms of disease progression and therapeutic targets. Her long-term goal is to work in pharmaceutical development while advocating for industry changes and providing scientific mentorship to the community.
