Komalpreet Kaur

Komalpreet Kaur is a 2026–2027 Self Memorial Scholar pursuing a Master of Public Administration as a City/County Management Fellow at the University of Kansas. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of Kansas in May 2026 through the University Honors Program. As the daughter of Sikh immigrants from Punjab, India, Komal's experiences inspired her commitment to public service and community leadership. In 2020, she founded Eye of An Immigrant (EOAI), a nonprofit organization dedicated to elevating immigrant voices, funding pathways to citizenship, and fostering a welcoming community.

Komal has gained experience in local government and public policy through roles with the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, the City of Kansas City, Missouri Mayor's Office, and the City of Shawnee, where she currently serves as a Graduate Finance Intern. During Fall 2025, she studied abroad at the Free University of Berlin, examining migration and public policy through a global lens. She also serves on the boards of Rangla KC and the Parade of Hearts Emerging Leaders Board. Her leadership has been recognized through numerous honors, including being named the youngest KC Current and Blue KC Game Changer, a Newman Civic Fellow, and the youngest recipient of the United Community Services Johnson County Citizen of the Year Award at age 18. Following her MPA, Komal plans to pursue a career spanning local government, nonprofit leadership, immigration advocacy, and law.
