Biography —
Lakyn Leupold is a 2025–2026 Self Memorial Scholar pursuing a Master of Science in Atmospheric Science at the University of Kansas, where her research focuses on air pollution and climate science. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Atmospheric Science with an Air Pollution Emphasis from KU and completed a Certificate in Climate and Climate Change, graduating with highest distinction (4.0 GPA). Lakyn received an Undergraduate Research Award and departmental honors for her study of ecosystem resilience to drought in the Mato Grosso region of the Amazon. During her undergraduate career, she served as a Chemistry Teaching Assistant for two years—earning a student-nominated award of excellence. In the future, Lakyn plans to study ecosystem resilience to climate change and help pave the way toward a sustainable future.
