Biography —
Maddie Peterson is a 2025–2026 Self Memorial Scholar pursuing her M.A. in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Kansas. She holds a B.A. in Speech-Language-Hearing and Psychology, along with a Certificate in Service Learning from the University of Kansas. During her undergraduate studies, Maddie gained clinical experience at The Language Acquisition Preschool and Speech Pathway Camp Communicate, working with children using play-based strategies and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices. She also completed a study abroad program in Bulgaria, providing speech therapy services at an elder’s home and a pediatric center. Maddie has served as Connections Chair for KU’s National Student Speech Language Hearing Association. In the future, she hopes to work in either pediatric settings or with individuals affected by neurodegenerative diseases.
