Biography

Madeline Isom is a 2021-2025 Self Graduate Fellow pursuing a Ph.D. in bioanalytical chemistry at the University of Kansas in the Desaire Research Group. She holds a B.S. Chemistry (2021) with a concentration in biochemistry from the University of Central Arkansas. Her doctoral research aims to enable biomarker studies for protected populations using noninvasive fingerprint sampling, mass spectrometry, and machine learning. As an additional component of her doctoral studies, she also uses machine learning to develop highly accurate AI detectors for scientific writing. Isom aspires to be a lifelong learner and hopes to pursue a career in academia as both a chemistry researcher and educator.
