Martel Ellis

Martel Lamar Ellis is a 2023-2024 Self Memorial Scholar pursuing a Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at The University of Kansas in Dr. Maggie Wagner’s laboratory. He received his B.S in Ecology, Evolutionary, and Organismal Biology (2022) from the University of Kansas. His research has focused on the mechanisms of heterosis in maize, his future work will focus on determining if variation in root/shoot traits within wild plant species can predictably shape the root microbiome.
