Biography

Megan Tucker is a 2025-2026 Self Memorial Scholar pursuing an M.A. in Speech-Language Pathology at the University of Kansas. She holds a B.A. in Speech-Language-Hearing, graduating with departmental honors, as well as a B.A. in Psychology. Additionally, she earned a certificate for the Global Awareness Program (G.A.P.). As an undergraduate, Megan held multiple leadership roles, including Treasurer of the National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA), Treasurer of Feminist Campus, and Vice President of Finance, Accounts Receivable, for Alpha Delta Pi Tau Chapter. Her research experience includes working under Dr. Michael Vitevitch, Ph.D., during the 2024-2025 academic year, where they explored how autobiographical memories may assist in retrieving semantic concepts, serving as a “back door” to language access for individuals with aphasia. Having grown up with a stutter and been in speech therapy, Megan is passionate about making a difference in the field. Her post-graduation goals include working in a pediatric setting and advocating for the stuttering community through education, early childhood intervention, and awareness initiatives.
