Biography

Nick Ferry is a 2020-2024 Self Graduate Fellow pursuing a Ph.D. in geology. He received a B.S. in geology (2018) from Northern Illinois University and an M.S. in geology (2020) from the University of Cincinnati. Nick is a sedimentary geologist who studies how geologic processes (e.g., tectonism, climate, sea level) interact to influence the evolution of sediment routing systems. His specific areas of expertise include fluvial sedimentology and detrital geochronology. After finishing his doctoral study, Nick plans to pursue a career in academia or as a research geologist with the federal government. From 2008-2012, Nick served honorably in the US Marine Corps where he reached the rank of Sergeant.
