Biography —
Sheena Zeng is a 2024-2028 Self Graduate Fellow pursuing a Ph.D. in mathematics at the University of Kansas. She grew up in Hays, Kansas, and graduated from the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor in 2023 with a Bachelor of Science in mathematics. She has previously done research on random matrix theory and its applications. Her planned research focuses broadly on using mathematical models to study real-world phenomena. In general, these models are represented by nonlinear partial differential equations (PDEs) with nonconstant coefficients. Most of the time, such PDEs do not have closed-form solutions, so she plans to utilize numerical methods to provide numerical solutions to these models. Outside of academia, Sheena is a US National Master in chess.
